The Academic Support and Career (ASC) Center offers academic support and career planning services. Together we help and encourage each other to grow academically and consider God’s call in our lives.
Academic Support
Students seeking academic help may take advantage of a variety of opportunities including:
Food 4 Thought:
The ASC Center hosts these sessions four nights per week. Between the hours of 7 PM and 10 PM, the Center is staffed by student employees to provide assistance in all areas of academics. There may also be additional hours led by students and/or a professor to help prepare for an upcoming exam. In the spring, there are designated Food 4 Thought nights to help sophomores prepare for the CBEST.
Writing Assistance:
At any time, students can email papers to the Academic Support and Career Center for writing assistance and peer reviews. Upon receiving a student’s paper, the ASCC staff will review the paper and email the student back with commendations, recommendations, and advice.
Mentor Groups:
Currently, mentor groups are made up of one upperclassman and two to three freshmen. These groups are encouraged to meet every other week for academic aid and accountability, as well as encouragement and advice for navigating the world of college. These groups are open for anyone to be a part of, and leaders are chosen based on past college success.
Major Decisions:
The ASC Center hosts talks and events related to specific academic areas, such as choosing a major.
Supplemental handouts:
Handouts on study skills, time management, taking notes, and class readings are available in the ASC Center.
