Apply for Financial Aid
Applying for financial aid at Providence is a straightforward process. Please follow the steps below. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the financial aid office at Providence. Our federal student code is 041539.
- Complete the Providence application for admission and accompanying documents.
- Your academic scholarship awards will be calculated in February (or within 10 days after the receipt of your scholarship application and forms). You will be notified about your award via a formal letter.
- Fill out the Online Institutional Aid Application.
Or print and complete the Institutional Aid Application and mail it to Providence by March 1. - File the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form any time after January 1 of the year you plan to enroll. Providence uses the FAFSA as a norming instrument in the financial aid process.When completing the FAFSA, you will be prompted to enter the institutional federal student code. You will need to enter 041539, this is the code for Providence Christian College.You may choose not to complete the FAFSA form; however, we will then assume that you have the means to pay the full cost of attendance at Providence and your financial aid package will be calculated accordingly. Please complete the FAFSA Declination Form and send it with your other financial aid materials if you DO NOT plan to complete the FAFSA form.Upon completion of the FAFSA form, you will be sent notification that your Student Aid Report is available. Please print a paper copy of this document, which will include your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and send it to Providence by mail or by fax (626) 696-4040.
- You will be notified of your total financial aid package on March 15 or after. This official offer must be confirmed by May 1 in order to reserve your classes and housing for the fall semester.
- In April you will have to complete the VFAO – Virtual Financial Aid Office application if you want to receive federal grants and loans. See Federal Financial Aid section on this website for more information.
The office of financial aid will work with spring semester applicants on a case by case basis.
Applying for Financial Aid as a Returning Student
Financial Aid is not only important when you enter college, but each year you are enrolled at Providence. Therefore, it is in your best interest to review the financial aid requirements and calendar to insure you complete all of the financial aid materials in a timely manner. Current Providence students should complete the following steps:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you plan to apply for financial aid. If you do not plan to apply for financial aid at Providence, then complete the FAFSA Declination Form. (This form will decline all need-based aid; however, you will still be eligible for scholarships if you apply.)
- Complete the VFAO (Virtual Financial Aid Office) Application.
- Scholarship information will be distributed to you during the first week of February. Please review the scholarship requirements prior to applying.
- All financial aid information is to be returned to the Office of Financial Aid no later than March 12.
- You will be notified of your financial aid package during the second week of April.
